Meet Shiza Hirani Founder of Youth MentorNet Café

Shiza Hirani is an award-winning youth advocate, youth mentor, changemaker and current student at the University of Regina’s Hill School of Business. Shiza Hirani is the Founder of Youth MentorNet Café, dedicated to empowering young people, particularly newcomer, racialized, and Indigenous youths by providing them with culturally sensitive mentorship. Too often, newcomer and Indigenous youths face challenges in education systems and many of them feel lost when it comes to post-secondary education due to lengthy application processes, complex scholarship forms, and financial stressors. Through Youth MentorNet Café, Shiza Hirani offers youths with culturally relevant guidance on admissions, career pathways, and financial planning.
Through Youth MentorNet Café, Shiza has supported over 5000 high school students across Canada and beyond in successful transition to post-secondary education. She has led 30+ workshops and mentorship sessions that sparked confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose among youths of all backgrounds. By designing over 100 creative learning e-resources, Shiza ensures learning is impactful, accessible, and culturally responsive for youths. Beyond her organization, Shiza serves on multiple national and international youth advisory councils, where she advocates for youth-led solutions to challenges like mental health, climate change, and gender equity in education.
In recognition of her impact, Shiza has received over 25 accolades, including the SaskEnergy Award, Ted Rogers Scholar Award, RBC Future Launch Award, Women Student Leaders in Business Administration Award, Hill Business Student's Society and Faculty of Business Administration Award, and recently Shiza received the “RCE Saskatchewan Education for Sustainable Development Recognition Award” that was presented to her by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan.
In 2025, Shiza was appointed as a Youth Advisor to Senator McPhedran at the Canadian Council of Young Feminists, a Global Youth Ambassador for Sustainable Development Goal 4 with Theirworld, and an Ambassador for the World Literacy Foundation. Shiza has represented Canada as a delegate at the World Bank Summit and the International Youth Conference. She has recently spoken at TheirWorld's Understanding Inequalities in Education Series - "Girls, Play, and Power" Session as an invited panelist.
With a sustained commitment to community-led transformation and education, Shiza Hirani continues to shape inclusive youth development frameworks that empower the next generation of global change-makers.
