Local, National, and Global Advocacy

Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations Shiza has been appointed as an Advisory Board Member for the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations, where she contributes youth perspectives on global policy discussions and international development priorities. In this role, she provides insights that reflect the experiences and priorities of young people, helping to inform conversations on issues such as sustainable development, youth leadership, and global cooperation.	UNICEF Canada Shiza serves as a U-Report Ambassador with UNICEF and as a Youth Advisory Board Member for the World Mental Health Day campaign. In these roles, she contributes youth perspectives to global conversations focused on mental health awareness, advocacy, and youth wellbeing. Through her involvement, Shiza supports initiatives that amplify youth voices and encourage open dialogue around mental health, particularly among young people.	Theirworld Shiza serves as a Global Youth Ambassador for Theirworld, an international organization dedicated to advancing children’s rights and improving access to quality education worldwide. In this role, she advocates for greater educational equity and youth empowerment, contributing to global conversations on the importance of inclusive and accessible learning opportunities for all young people.
Canadian Council of Young Feminists Shiza serves as a Youth Advisor to Marilou McPhedran through the Canadian Council of Young Feminists. In this role, she contributes youth perspectives to national discussions on gender equality, leadership, and public policy. As a Youth Advisor, Shiza helps bring forward the experiences and priorities of young people, particularly young women, to inform conversations and initiatives related to equity and representation.	United Nations Association in Canada Shiza served as a Gender Equality Fellow with the United Nations Association in Canada, where she worked to address and raise awareness about gender-based violence. In this role, she engaged in advocacy, education, and community dialogue focused on advancing gender equity and promoting safer, more inclusive communities.	World Literacy Foundation Shiza served as a World Literacy Ambassador, where she worked to promote literacy and access to educational resources within her community. In this role, she organized and assembled literacy kits and goody bags containing books, learning materials, and educational supplies. These kits were distributed to children and families in the community to encourage reading, learning, and early literacy development.
Institute for Economics and Peace Shiza served as an Ambassador for the Institute for Economics and Peace, where she supported initiatives that promote peacebuilding, social cohesion, and global awareness of peaceful societies. In this role, she engaged in educational outreach and advocacy to raise awareness about the importance of peace, conflict prevention, and sustainable development.	World Bank Shiza was selected as a delegate for the World Bank Youth Summit 2025, hosted by the World Bank. As part of this global gathering, she joined young leaders from around the world to engage in dialogue on pressing international challenges, including sustainable development, economic inclusion, and youth-driven innovation.	Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion Shiza serves as a National Youth Ambassador for the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion. In this role, she supports national efforts to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion across communities, educational institutions, and workplaces.
Harvard Crimson Shiza served as a Global Student Ambassador with Harvard Crimson Global, where she supported initiatives that connect and engage students from diverse backgrounds around the world. In this role, she helped promote educational opportunities, global dialogue, and student leadership within an international network of young learners.	International Youth Conference Shiza was selected as a delegate for the International Youth Conference. Through her participation, she contributed youth perspectives and collaborated with peers on ideas and solutions aimed at strengthening youth engagement and global impact.	Young Canadians Roundtable on Health Shiza served as a Working Group Member for the Young Canadians Roundtable on Health, where she contributed to national discussions on youth perspectives in health policy and systems change. In this role, she also served on the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, supporting efforts to ensure that health conversations and recommendations reflected diverse voices, lived experiences, and inclusive approaches to healthcare.
United Nations Shiza served as a Working Group Member with the United Nations Youth Moving Beyond GDP Lab, where she contributed youth perspectives to global discussions on rethinking traditional measures of economic progress and wellbeing. In this role, she collaborated with young leaders and experts to explore more holistic and inclusive approaches to measuring development beyond GDP.	Hill Business Students' Society Shiza served as Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion with the Hill Business Students’ Society, where she led initiatives that promoted inclusive leadership, representation, and meaningful dialogue. In this role, she also moderated the EDI Expert Panel at the Diversity Gala, facilitating discussion among panelists and bringing forward diverse perspectives on equity, diversity, and inclusion in academic and professional spaces.
